On this second Sunday after Easter, perhaps the echos of “He is Risen” are being pushed back by daily grind of life. The disciples of Jesus were discouraged by the Crucifixion and confused by the empty tomb.
As two of them began to make they way home they walked and discussed what they had seen in Jerusalem (Luke 24:13-35). the bible tells us that as they walked Jesus appeared and began walking with them. However, they didn’t recognize him. When things seem the darkest, when our disappointment, hurt, or pain caused by circumstances we face each day get a hold of us, we often miss that Jesus is right there walking next to us.
Put on the glasses of faith. Take off the glasses of skepticism and doubt and life will take on new meaning and new wonder. Even those who were closest to him did not recognize him until they shook off their disappointment and despair. But when they put on the glasses of faith and realized he was in their midst, their hearts burned within them in joy and peace that the Lord Jesus Christ was and IS alive.
The 7th Annual DeerCreek Easter Egg Hunt held at Southside Park was a huge success. Provided with spectacular weather, we were blessed with a large turnout from the community. Children got to make resurrection bracelets, wobble eggs, and Happy Easter flowers, hunt eggs – plus a visit from the Crayola Easter Bunny (Oh and face painting was a big hit, thanks to our YoungLife artists). Each family took home a set of Resurrection Eggs that 12 the Easter Story, Thanks to all the DC3 volunteers who set-up, put out thousands of eggs, manned the crafts stations, and cleaned up at the end of the day. He is Risen!
